The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the immense emotional toll faced by Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses who often battled patient loss with little to no opportunity for proper grieving. Many ICUs do not prioritize nurses’ grieving, but for the Institute of Patient-Centered Design, it is a priority. Recognizing this critical need, our team at the Georgia Tech School of Design worked to create MediHive. 

MediHive is an innovative and interactive grief tool designed to support nurses in processing grief and to foster unity within the ICU. Its portable, safe, and modular design easily integrates into the hospital environment and hospital regulations with a focus on functionality and compassion.
